On the Inauguration

obamacrowd1Okay, so I’m not going to lie.  I broke my media fast for a couple of hours to watch the inauguration.  I couldn’t help it.  I really prayed and asked God what I should do, and at the end I was reminded that to fast is not meant to hold you back, but to free you to seek Him. And so, I felt with the Lord’s blessing I could watch to celebrate with the nation this historic event.

And yeah, I don’t regret doing it.  I can’t quite explain the feeling I had as I watched with millions (billions?) around the world the next president of the United States walk out in front of 2 million cheering Americans.  Perhaps the words to be describe it is a mix of  ”hopeful expectancy” and “awe” (not to mention the tinge of the words “confusion” and “sadness” as I long for the day when those two million will cheer  ”Jesus” instead).  But either way, it is undeniable that anybody who watched would have felt the awe inspiring significance of this momentous day in our history.  

Now, I will be the first to say that we cannot put our hope for the future in Barrack Obama.  It would be wishful thinking to hope that Obama would be anything more to us than a great leader and politician, and I believe the greatest mistake we can make Read the rest of this entry
